The Cuivre River Electric Cooperative (CREC) Nominating Committee seeks interested and qualified candidates for four, three-year term seats on the co-op’s Board of Directors.

The deadline for candidate nominations is at noon on May 5. Qualified candidates will be asked to attend a candidate reception and interview on May 12 at the CREC headquarters, 1112 E. Cherry St., Troy.

Candidate Profile Form

CREC bylaws require at least two candidates in each district. The committee has the final authority to select a slate of candidates from the nominees. Once the committee has announced a slate of candidates, CREC members will have the opportunity to learn about the candidates prior to the election.

Four directors will be elected, one from each of these districts: Lincoln County District 1; St. Charles County Districts 4 and 5; and Warren County District 3 (see shaded areas on map).
Director qualifications as specified in Article IV Section 3 (page 5) of the cooperative bylaws, are available on the co-op’s website here or are available upon request.
In addition, it is recommended that directors regularly attend meetings held on the fourth Thursday of each month, devote several additional days each year to meetings, and spend a few hours each month reading and studying.

If you are a CREC member and wish to be considered for the ballot you are advised to:
Check the map to learn if a director will be elected from your district this year.

Contact either a Nominating Committee member in your county or Neal Harrell, supervisor of member engagement, to confirm eligibility and learn more about serving as a director. Contact Neal at 636-695-4834 or email nharrell@cuivre.com.

Online voting via a secure internet site or by paper ballot begins on July 20 and closes on Aug. 24, or members may vote in person at the annual meeting on Aug. 27 at the cooperative’s Troy headquarters.

More information about the voting process and the annual meeting will be forthcoming in future editions of the Current Times, our e-newsletter, CREC Connections, and here.
