The Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board met in October and awarded $30,401 in grants funded through Operation Round Up. Health grants were awarded to seven individuals/families from Dardenne Prairie, Elsberry, Lake Saint Louis, O’Fallon, Troy, Warrenton, and Wentzville, including support for a bathroom renovation to accommodate the needs of a disabled man and assistance with medical expenses for a disabled man battling cancer. A weatherization grant was awarded to a retired woman in need of replacement windows.
Community organizations that received grants included:
• Christmas Day Dinner — $2,000 to fund dine-in and delivery of Christmas dinners for community members in need.
• New Salem Baptist Church — $2,000 to fund the purchase of paper and hygiene products for families in need.
• Bowling Green Middle School — $1,000 to help support their Veterans Day celebration luncheon with local veterans with students.
• St. Clement School — $801 to support the funding of security cameras at the facility.
• New Melle Fire Protection District — $2,500 to help with purchasing a thermal imaging camera, which assists firefighters in locating victims through smoke and/or in the dark.
• Operation Backpack/Wentzville United Methodist Church — $1,500 for helping the church’s ministry purchase food for their backpack program for low-income/in need students.
• Stingray Transit Lines — $5,000 to support the organization’s program that provides transportation relief for Boone Center Inc. families.
• Wright City Parks Foundation — $1,000 to support funding for the Foundation’s batting cage facility.
• Missouri Hills Apartments — $5,000 to support the repaving of the parking lot at this senior/low-income housing development.
