The Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board met in August and awarded $29,100 in grants funded through Operation Round Up. Health grants were awarded to 16 individuals/families from Foley, Lake Saint Louis, Moscow Mills, O’Fallon, St. Charles, Troy, Wentzville, and Warrenton, including support for a family whose home needed emergency repairs to ensure they had power, and helping a family with a disabled child with the purchase of a walk-in bathtub.
Community organizations that received grants included:
- Bread for Life Food Pantry — $1,000 to help stock the organization’s shelves with food to serve those in need.
- Youth in Need — $1,000 to support the organization’s emergency sheltering for homeless youth.
- Oasis Food Pantry — $2,500 to help fund the organization’s summer food program for kids in need.
- Great Rivers Crisis Intervention Team Council — $2,500 to support training for first responders centered on behavioral health education and de-escalation skills.
- Good Shepherd Children and Family Services — $1,000 to support their program that provides shelter, support, and treatment for pregnant and/or parenting teens and their children.
- Pursuit 3416 — $1,000 for the purchase of materials for their training program, which educates both youth and adults to prevent sexual exploitation and stop predators from reaching youth in our community.
- Food Outreach — $2,500 to support the delivery of meals to underserved families affected by HIV and cancer.
- North Point Middle School (Bright Future Grant) — $400 to fund supplies for the school’s outdoor pursuits program.
- Warrenton Lions Club — $2,500 to help fund repairs to the organization’s building following vandalism earlier this year.
- Bethel Hills — $4,000 to support enhancing the accessibility and functionality of a pavilion of this non-profit organization that serves developmentally disabled individuals.
