CREC is committed to providing you with reliable and affordable power. However, with the growing demand for energy, to continue delivering the electricity you depend on, we’re facing the need for a small rate adjustment that will go into effect next month.
In August 2024, in his annual meeting remarks, President and CEO Doug Tracy emphasized that CREC is in a period of rate pressure. The goal of the cooperative is to continue delivering steady energy to members, maintaining a balance of reliability and low cost.
To meet the growing energy demands of our region – fueled by factors like increased data centers, the rise of electric vehicles, and new industries — our generation and transmission partners, Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc (AECI) and Central Electric Power Cooperative (CEPC) are investing in critical infrastructure upgrades. While these investments ensure a reliable energy future, they impact the wholesale power prices we pay, and that affects our member rates.
Even with the rate increase this year, our rates remain among the lowest across the country. Our commitment to our members is to keep rates as low as we can, while safely delivering reliable energy.
