Your Cuivre River Electric Bill
New Features
The Billing Department will begin testing a new bill format on March 1. The new Cuivre River Electric Cooperative electric bill, which will be implemented for consumers with single meters, will be printed on standard size paper, using standard size envelopes, streamlining the printing and distribution process.
"The new bill contains the same basic elements," reports Manager of Finance and Accounting Susan Dollins. However, since the paper size includes a larger area for account history information, a 13-month energy use graph has been added. "This will make it easy for consumers to compare the current month's use to the same month last year," she adds.
Consumers will also be able to compare their average daily energy use and average daily cost for the current and previous year. Bills will arrive on the same monthly schedule. The current multi-bill format for residential consumers with multiple meters will not change immediately. These consumers should expect format changes later this year.
According to Dollins, the new format will be tested for several months before changes become permanent. "If we discover any problems with the new bill in the first few months, we'll be able to make corrections and improvements with input from our members," she adds.
The most compelling reason to adopt the new format is to standardize the size of printed materials. "We will now be able to print bills from a variety of different office machines," says Dollins. "This allows us to use our equipment much more efficiently." The new size also marginally reduces the cost of materials. "In the face of rising costs, we're working to increase efficiency and hold down operating expenses, while still providing the personal service our members deserve," says Dollins.
