Rebates Renewed With Minor Changes

Minor changes to last year's rebate programs will help ensure that Cuivre River members continue to reap immediate savings on the purchase of select, high-efficiency home appliances, heating and cooling systems, and long-term savings on energy costs. Read more…

Other qualifying factors apply, but here is the essence of the newly revised rebate guidelines:

Home Appliances
When used in conjunction with an electric water heater, rebates are available for:
  • Energy Star® Clothes Washer $100.00
  • Energy Star® Dishwasher $50.00

In addition, rebates are available for:
  • 90%+ Efficient Electric Water Heater $50.00

Heating and Cooling
  • Ground Source Heat Pump, new $750.00/T capped at 10 Tons for residential installation and capped at 50 Tons for commercial installation
  • Ground Source Heat Pump, replace $150.00/T capped at 10 Tons for residential installation and capped at 50 Tons for commercial installation
  • Dual Fuel Heat Pump $150.00/T Energy Star® rated, minimum SEER of 14.5, supplemental gas or propane heat required

"Minor changes include the rebate cap for Ground Source Heat Pumps and the higher SEER requirement for Dual Fuel Heat Pumps," says Manager of Member Services Kevin Hurd. "We're happy that other guidelines remain unchanged, and that we can continue to offer these rebates for another year," he adds.

During the past year, Cuivre River members received more than $460,000 through the rebate program to help improve appliance efficiency and install high efficiency heating and cooling systems.

Appliance rebates were provided for 186 clothes washers, 98 dishwashers and 70 water heaters. Heat Pump rebates were provided for 60 Dual Fuel systems and 104 Ground Source systems, which helped members, add a total of 788.5 Tons of high efficiency home heating and cooling.

The majority of funds for the rebate program are provided by Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI), which sets the program guidelines. AECI supplies wholesale power to Cuivre River and other electric cooperatives in Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma. Cuivre River provides a portion of the funds for local heat pump rebates.
