State Offers Tax Holiday, Rebates
April 19 — 25 marks Missouri's Show Me Green Energy Star sales tax holiday and the start of the Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program.
You can purchase qualifying new Energy Star certified appliances without paying state sales tax this week. According to the Missouri Department of Revenue, the exemption is limited to new appliances, up to $1,500 per appliance.
Here's a partial list of Energy Star certified items that are exempt: clothes washers, dishwashers, conventional ovens, ranges & stoves, air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers. For more information visit http://dor.mo.gov.
The new state rebate program is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Rebates for replacement appliances purchased by Missouri full-time residents from Missouri businesses begin April 19 on a first-come basis.
State rebate amounts range from $75 to $500 on select appliances. Gas furnaces, air source heat pumps, central air conditioners, select water heaters (i.e. solar), clothes washers and dishwashers may qualify.
