First-Time User Saves 47% On Prescription
Kathy Summers doesn’t have prescription insurance coverage but she does take prescription medication regularly. She knows all too well how buying the medication can take a bite out of a family’s income.
When looking to refill a prescription recently, the Foristell area Cuivre River member called the Walmart Pharmacy in Wentzville. She asked if there were any discount programs available to make her monthly medication more affordable.
The reason? One benefit of the Co-op Connections Card program is a pharmacy discount. Savings average 10% to 85% on prescription medication at over 60,000 pharmacies nationwide. Kathy contacted Cuivre River to get her card, and even followed up with a call after using the card for the first time.
“I walked out of the pharmacy with a grin from ear-to-ear,” exclaims Kathy.
Her $115 monthly prescription dropped to $61 with the Co-op Connections Card discount. She saved $54. That's 47% off the regular price.
“I was ecstatic that the price dropped from $115 to $61 the first time I used the card,” says Kathy.
Cuivre River members like Kathy who don’t have prescription insurance coverage are the ideal candidates to see the most savings with the Co-op Connections Card pharmacy discount. But members with prescription insurance coverage should be encouraged to still check if the Co-op Connections Card discount is less than their insurance co-pays. Remember that some medications not covered by insurance could result in savings with the Co-op Connections Card.
To use the pharmacy discount program, just give the Co-op Connections Card to your pharmacist. All pertinent information to check pricing is located on the back of the card.
Since Cuivre River joined the Co-op Connections Card program in 2008, members locally have saved over $150,000 on prescriptions. That’s obviously money many families can use on something else.
Kathy says, “I think it’s a great way to help others.” Cuivre River does too.
