Need Trees?
Community organizations looking to green up parks and neighborhoods have willing project partners in Cuivre River and Central Electric Power Cooperative (CEPC), its power supplier.
Green Tree Partnership grants of up to $1,000, funded by Cuivre River and CEPC, are available to schools, parks, not-for-profit neighborhood associations and other groups.
Last year the Winfield Sports Association received funds to plant 15 trees at the Winfield ballpark. A Green Tree Partnership Grant will help 15 new trees provide shade at the Winfield Ballpark this spring and in years to come. Green Tree Partnership grants also helped the City of Winfield plant trees at the City Fairgrounds, Friends of Wentzville Parks add trees at Progress Park, the Elsberry Legion Auxiliary plant trees in the Elsberry Cemetery, and the Village on the Green Homeowners Association provide trees on common ground.
Requests are accepted year round, but Cuivre River Marketing Specialist Chris Ryan suggests you begin the process early. It starts with an application and a tree planting plan. "Be sure your plan keeps trees clear of utility lines," says Ryan. "Include a map of planting locations, tree type and proximity to utility lines."
Grants may also be used as matching funds for other programs, such as the Missouri Department of Conservation's Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance program and the Department of Highway and Transportation's Transportation Enhancement program.
Grant applications can be obtained by selecting the Green Tree Partnership Application link below, or by contacting Chris Ryan at 800.392.3709, 636.528.8261 or 636.695.4700, ext. 4732.
