From the General Manager/CEO's Desk
We begin the New Year with gratitude for the opportunities all of us at Cuivre River have to work for you, our member-owners.
As we prepare to face the challenges of rising wholesale power costs in 2009, we never forget who ultimately pays the bill. You do.
Discussions about energy initiatives and environmental controls will soon begin anew within the halls of congress. We'll hear terms like "ratepayers" and "customers" bantered about as if they are simply players in the energy economy. We know these terms represent people. Families. Small businesses. Local industries. In a cooperative you are never just a "ratepayer". We hope you value the difference this makes to those of us who work for you.
We know wholesale price increases are coming our way again this spring. We will soon need to address revenue shortfalls that are not yet known. When we learn the impact this will have on our costs, we will inform you. Simultaneously we continue to search for operational savings and efficiency improvements and provide you with tools to help you modify the way you use energy.
Regardless of what happens to power costs or what transpires in the legislature, we will not waver from our long-standing commitment to bring you the best value for your energy dollar. We will adhere to our cooperative principles, guided by core values of integrity, accountability, innovation, and community service.
We send you our best wishes for the New Year, and pledge our best effort in service to you.
