Voting FAQs

Q. Can my spouse and I both vote?
A. No. Only one vote may be cast per member household or business. To be eligible to receive a ballot, your name should be listed on your family's account.

Q. I have several meters. Do I get one ballot for each meter?
A. No. Only one vote may be cast per membership.

Q. Can I vote for another person (i.e. homebound parent, friend or neighbor)?
A. No. You may only obtain a ballot for yourself. Voting in person at Cuivre River offices continues weekdays through the close of business August 11.

Q. At the annual meeting, where & when do I vote?
A. You have two options. When you register you will receive a ballot that you may either place in a ballot collection machine before the 7:30 p.m. business meeting, or cast during the business meeting, when election officials manually collect ballots in the arena. Ballot collection machines will be located in the Ground Level lobby and on Level 1.

Q. Who counts the ballots?
A. The Nominating Committee and election officials deputized by the cooperative's attorney process the ballots through machines similar to those used for local public elections. Results are certified by the independent company that provides the machines.

Q. If I make a mistake on my ballot, can I get another?
A. If you may a mistake or if your ballot becomes soiled, an election official can void your original ballot and give you a new ballot. Replacement ballots are available at voting machines, or from an election official on the meeting floor during ballot collection.

Q. Can I bring my absentee ballot to the office?
A. Yes. You may bring your completed ballot sealed in the ballot envelope and your separate Voter Signature Card to a Cuivre River office by the close of business on August 11.

Q. Can I bring my absentee ballot to the meeting?
A. No. Absentee ballots will not be accepted at the meeting. If you request an absentee ballot but do not use by August 11, you can receive a replacement ballot at the meeting.

Q. If I vote absentee can I still attend the meeting?
A. Yes. Registration officials will verify you voted in advance. You will have full access to the meeting and festivities, including the attendance prize drawings, but will not receive another ballot.
