6:30 a.m. Good morning from Washington, D.C! This is our last day in our Nation’s Capital. What is our schedule for today? Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m., checkout at 9:00 a.m., and the plane leaves at 12 noon. Wow! What an incredible week. The Youth Tour chaperones on our trip have been great. Lori Kiso from Three River Electric in Linn and Jim Robertson from Boone Electric in Columbia were awesome! They made the trip a lot of fun. Thanks Lori and Jim! Not to mention Mike Marsch. Thanks...

YOUTH TOUR. DAY 6. JUNE 15, 2016.

Well, it was our last full day in Washington D.C. We went out with a bang! In fact, I (Clare) was completely exhausted by the time I made it to bed last night. We had breakfast this morning with Youth Tour delegates from Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana and Tennessee. It was interesting to hear how their Youth Tour contests were held. Lonnie was right. Every cooperative’s Youth Tour contest is different. I am glad our cooperative, Cuivre River Electric, had us write about “My Favorite Co...

Kai and I (Justin) woke up this morning at 6:30 a.m. to the sound of phone. Good morning! This is your wake-up call! Our chaperones are the coolest! We looked in our Youth Tour Passport to review our day’s itinerary. Looks like another incredible day in Washington, D.C. Or should I say a hot one in Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon, Virginia… 20 percent chance of showers. Time to break out that rain poncho Mike Marsch gave us during our Youth Tour orientation! I (Kacie) still can’t believe we...

6:30 a.m. Ring, ring, ring… This is your wake-up call. Wake-Up! The chaperones must hate Monday as much as I do… Oh wait, I’m (Leo) in Washington, D.C.! Time to get ready for another day in our Nation’s Capital. First, I got to eat breakfast with more than 1,700 Youth Tour delegates representing 43 states. How cool is that! Then we counted off. 1... 2... 3... 103! Everyone is here. 8:30 a.m. We departed from the hotel and traveled to Arlington National Cemetery.

Good morning Washington, D.C.! Looks like it’s going to be a hot one here in the Nation’s Capital for today’s Youth Tour, but we’re from Missouri so this should be no problem. What is on our Youth Tour itinerary for today? 6:30 a.m. Wake-up Call. Check! 7:30 a.m. Breakfast. Check! 8:45 a.m. Load Buses. Count off. 1... 2... 3... 103! All Youth Tour delegates present and accounted for. 9:00 a.m. We departed from the hotel and headed for the memorials. I (Kai) can’t wait to see the memorials!

Saturday morning. The Missouri Youth Tour chaperones woke us up bright and early. Too early! 5:45 a.m. to be exact. Should have gone to bed when they told us last night. Eat breakfast with my new friends Elizabeth Scott from Intercounty Electric Cooperative in Licking and Chelsea McConnell from Webster Electric Cooperative in Marshfield. In fact, every meal on this trip is provided or paid for (yes, Mike, by Cuivre River Electric Cooperative). Meal number two and counting…

YOUTH TOUR. DAY 1. JUNE 10, 2016.

It’s here! At long last, the big day has arrived! The 2016 Youth Tour’s trip to Washington D.C.! It all started several months ago, when my teacher, Ms. Bader, informed our English class that we would be writing a 500-1,000 word composition and could win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. during the summer. I (Kai Rogers) wrote my essay and entered the Cuivre River Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Contest. Why not? What else is there to do during the summer?
