Cuivre River Electric 2014 Youth Tour Winners! Youth Tour Winners Announced: April 16, 2014

“Concern for Community” is the cooperative principle that won the hearts of most finalists in Cuivre River Electric Cooperative’s 46th Annual Youth Tour Final Competition on April 16. Twelve local students presented their essays touting “The Power of Cooperative Principles” with judges and guests attending the event. Students’ speeches and cooperative quiz scores determined the most important contest of the evening, the selection of Cuivre River’s delegates to attend the National Youth Tour Conference in Washington, D.C. this summer. Students chosen as Cuivre River Youth Tour delegates include Elizabeth Citrowske, Brandelyn Martin, Alison Boehmer, Marissa Burch, Grant Cordell and Gabriel Holtmeyer. Read more…

Cuivre River Electric Cooperative is proud to announce the twelve area high school juniors who have been selected as the Youth Tour finalists. They are Tara O’Brien and Arianna Shaffer, Elsberry HS; Elizabeth Citrowske, Homeschool; Brandelyn Martin, Silex HS; Alison Boehmer, St. Dominic HS; Caroline Newby, Timberland HS; Madeline Colyer, Troy Buchanan HS; Kaitlynn Benfield, Grant Cordell and Gabriel Holtmeyer of Warrenton HS; Marissa Burch and Samantha Eggemeyer, Winfield HS. The twelve finalists were selected from 333 student essays focusing on “The Power of Cooperative Principles”. The seven cooperative principles include Voluntary and Open Membership, Democratic Member Control, Member Economic Participation, Autonomy and Independence, Education, Training and Information, Cooperation among Cooperatives and Concern for Community.
