The Cuivre River Electric Cooperative 2015 Calendar Contest was a huge success! Over 138 entries were received from 87 Cuivre River Electric Cooperative members. The photographs were judged by a distinguished panel of judges from the Saint Charles Community College Marketing and Communications Department. We would like to highlight the winning photographers who captured the images used for our 2015 Cuivre River Electric Cooperative Calendar. Cuivre River members have lost a devoted servant and advocate, Director Dennis Brakensiek, who died November 1. Dennis was elected to his first term as a Cuivre River Electric Cooperative director in August 1989, and was chosen by Cuivre River members to serve nine terms. He represented Warren County District 1 and worked on behalf of all Cuivre River members. Dennis highly valued the cooperative principle "Concern for Community," and believed that cooperative members have the ability and opportunity to direct their business in the manner that is best for both members and the community. Cuivre River Electric Employees Will Help Ring In The Season Of Giving.Employees Will Help Ring In The Season Of Giving

Cuivre River employees who will help ring in the season of giving with bells for the Salvation Army. Each year employees partner with the Salvation Army to help their neighbors. They will staff the kettle throughout the day on December 3 at Walmart in Troy, and at a variety of Salvation Army kettle locations during the holiday season. Cuivre River employees also host an annual "Santa Claus for a Cause" campaign to raise funds for a local food pantry and families in need. Donations are welcome at Troy and Lake Saint Louis offices weekdays from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. in Troy, or 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. in Lake Saint Louis.

The St. Louis Crisis Nursery presented the Guardian Angel Award to Cuivre River Electric Cooperative during the "Over the Top for Tots" event held recently in St. Charles. The award recognizes those who are committed to protecting children in their local communities. "We are pleased to honor Cuivre River Electric Cooperative as our Guardian Angel recipient for the generous support we have received over the years," says Community Relations Director Bonnie Define. "We are incredibly grateful for this partnership, which allows us to provide safe heating, school supplies, community outreach and family education programs to deserving families. Promoting electrical safety is always in season - and a smart thing to do. As winter storm season approaches, Mid-Missouri electric cooperatives have gone a step further, launching the "Be Storm Smart" initiative and website for storm preparedness. The initiative includes web-based resources for storm kit preparation, generator safety and power line safety, video links for storm safety, "Kid's Page" resources for youth and things families can do to be prepared before a storm, and be safe during and after a storm.
