Youth Tour Contest Begins February 2

The Power of Cooperative Principles. Cuivre River Electric Cooperative, Inc. invites high school juniors of Lincoln, Pike, St. Charles and Warren counties to participate in the Youth Tour essay contest. "The Power of Cooperative Principles" is the essay topic chosen for students who enter the competition which begins February 2.This is Cuivre River's 47th annual contest to select high school juniors to serve as delegates to the National Youth Tour in Washington, D. Cuivre River Electric Welcomes New Community Trust Board Mmembers.New Trustees Appointed For Operation Round Up

The Cuivre River Electric Cooperative Board of Directors has named three new trustees to the non-profit trust board which allocates Operation Round Up funds. Linda Whalen of Troy, Doug Steinmeyer of St. Charles and Joyce Hollaway of Warrenton replace outgoing trustees Bob Hall, Nancy Matheny and Dan Elliott. Each served their two-term maximum. Outgoing trustees completing their second and final terms (six years total) were honored for their dedication to Operation Round Up and their leadership on behalf of the Cuivre River Electric Community Trust. If you do find yourself in the dark, there are several ways you can let us know. You can report your outage by calling any Cuivre River phone number and giving your (1) phone number, (2) member account number or (3) meter number through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. Now you can also report an outage with MyCuivreApp, available through iTunes and Google Play. The new app feature was released in January. Cuivre River Electric's Operation Round Up Program.Operation Round Up Helps Stock Food Pantry Shelves

During the final two months of the year, Cuivre River Electric Community Trust volunteers who put Operation Round Up funds to work in their communities directed more than $12,000 to help local food pantries serve hungry families in need. The Immaculate Conception Church Dardenne Prairie Conference of the St. Vincent DePaul (SVDP) Society and the St. Patrick’s Wentzville Conference of the SVDP Society each received $3,000 from Operation Round Up to help stock pantry shelves. Veterans Coffee Talk of Troy recently received a $5,000 Operation Round Up grant to help transport local veterans on their Honor Flight journey to Washington, D.C. On January 1, 2008, a law took effect in Missouri mandating that all electric utilities offer net metering and interconnection to consumers generating 100 kilowatts (kWs) or less of electricity from renewable resources. Net metering enables the consumer (generator) to “export” power to the utility’s grid that is in excess of immediate on-site needs to offset an equal amount of power supplied by the utility at a different time in the billing period.
