Will You Be Seeing RED?


Don't be alarmed if you start seeing a little "red" on your bill. Beginning September 1, Cuivre River will implement a new disconnect notification method for accounts in arrears. Members with bills that are already nearly a month past due will see a disconnect message printed in "red" ink on their electric bills. (See image of new utility bill below.)

"Members who pay regularly but sometimes run a little behind may now receive the 'red' disconnect message, though they previously did not receive a disconnect notice," says Supervisor of Consumer Accounts Tammy Nolan. "We don't want them to be alarmed if they routinely pay each month."


Previously, a "yellow" notice has been mailed in addition to a bill with the past-due amount. There will no longer be a second mailing, but courtesy notification phone calls will continue for members with valid phone numbers on file.


To alert members who sometimes have difficulty paying their bills about the new practice, information about the upcoming change has been provided with the "yellow" disconnect notice for the past several months.


The good news: The new notice will be delivered sooner. "Members who wish to apply to local agencies for utility assistance have more time to do so using the new method," says Nolan. A secondary benefit: reduced mailing costs.


The biggest change is the notification method, but some payment due dates have been adjusted. "If the new date puts a strain on your payment schedule, consider requesting Due Date Choice*," says Nolan. This program allows members to select the time of the month they prefer their bill to become due.


Budget Billing and a variety of other payment options are also available to accommodate family budgets and payment schedules.

Choose the "Electric Service" menu and follow the prompts. Enter and confirm your Member Number. Enter your Zip Code. Listen for your account balance. Use MasterCard, Visa or Discover. Get instant payment confirmation. If you have more than one account, you can also pay multiple balances with one call.

Pay in person: Lobby hours at all offices are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Pay by car: A drive-up window at the Troy office is open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Each office has secure deposit receptacles for your convenience 24 hours a day.

Pay by mail: Envelopes are mailed with bills.
